Introducing the “URUS” SINGLE RIDERS JACKET from BOOTES.

As the name BOOTES—derived from the constellation Boötes, the Herdsman—suggests, the brand’s central theme is the pursuit of the possibilities of cowhide.

Building on the experience gained through FINE CREEK LEATHERS and its long-standing exploration of horsehide, BOOTES was created to reconsider the strength, character, and aging potential of cowhide.

The “URUS” is inspired by a vintage single riders jacket that was custom-ordered from an American leather manufacturer.

Its design is based around a simple stand collar, with uninterrupted sleeves and a generously cut one-piece back panel.

By eliminating unnecessary design elements, the construction allows the natural character, drape, and surface expression of the steerhide itself to take center stage.

The leather begins with carefully selected cowhide measuring more than 3mm thick, which is then split down to approximately 1.5mm.

It is finished with full vegetable tanning and an aniline treatment.

Although based on the same cowhide used for the brand’s representative “ARCTURUS” model, this version offers a different surface character, with the natural grain of the steerhide clearly visible even when new.

Areas with stronger grain are balanced against relatively smoother sections, creating a rich and varied expression across a single jacket.

The color is BLACK.

As the surface wears with use, the underlying brown core gradually becomes visible, producing the distinctive aging associated with brown-core leather.

Natural creases will form along the sleeves and body, while the leather gradually molds to the wearer and develops deeper luster over time.

The silhouette retains the atmosphere of a vintage riders jacket while being carefully shaped to follow the body.

The one-piece back and uninterrupted sleeve construction further emphasize the natural fall and drape of the leather.

Despite the rugged appearance of the steerhide, the jacket conforms to the body more naturally than its thickness and surface texture might suggest, becoming increasingly comfortable with wear.

It pairs naturally with denim and work pants, while also working well with more refined styling such as trousers, allowing the leather texture and clean silhouette to stand out.

The strength, suppleness, and evolving character inherent to cowhide are all central to this model.

Drawing on years of experience creating leather jackets, BOOTES has re-examined the appeal of steerhide and translated it into a distinctive single riders jacket.
