Introducing the UTILITY SHIRT Herringbone from FAR EAST MANUFACTURING.

Far East Manufacturing, hereafter referred to as FEM, is a brand newly produced in 2023 by Mr. Hayashi of RESOLUTE.

While RESOLUTE is best known for jeans, one of the most iconic forms of casual trousers, FEM expanded into a new military-inspired line beginning with the 2026 Spring/Summer season.

The collection draws inspiration from utility garments adopted by the U.S. military from the 1940s through the 1970s, including both utility trousers and utility shirts.

This shirt was developed with a focus on 1950s utility shirts, a period when the jacket-like character of the tubular sleeve construction was still strongly present.

This version is made from indigo-dyed herringbone fabric, a material traditionally associated with classic workwear.

The fine herringbone weave creates a distinctive surface texture, while the indigo gives the fabric a deep and rich appearance.

Although the fabric has the rugged look of traditional workwear, it feels surprisingly soft and comfortable against the body, making the shirt easy to wear from the beginning.

With repeated wear and washing, the indigo will gradually fade, creating natural highlights around seams, creases, and other areas of friction.

As the color develops, the herringbone pattern becomes increasingly pronounced, giving the fabric greater depth and character over time.

The shirt therefore offers an appealing aging process, changing from a clean and understated appearance when new into a more expressive and individual garment with wear.

The indigo color also pairs particularly well with denim. Even when worn with jeans in similar tones, the contrast between the herringbone texture and denim fabric creates a naturally layered look.

The silhouette follows the pattern of vintage utility shirts, with a slightly shaped waist for a clean appearance.

At the same time, the tubular sleeves are cut with enough room to give the garment a jacket-like feel, making it suitable both as a shirt and as a lightweight shirt jacket.
