Corduroy is one of those fabrics that naturally feels right for the autumn and winter seasons.
The corduroy used this season by FAR EAST MANUFACTURING has a nostalgic feel, reminiscent of vintage clothing, with its fine-wale texture and understated character.
That said, wearing corduroy as a full matching set is something we do not often see.
That is exactly what makes this setup so interesting.
Designed by Yoshiyuki Hayashi of RESOLUTE, FAR EAST MANUFACTURING brings its own perspective to classic American casual style, retaining the familiar texture and atmosphere of traditional corduroy while refining the overall balance for how we want to wear it today.
TRUCKER JACKET CORDUROY
The upper piece is the “TRUCKER JACKET CORDUROY,” based on the classic trucker jacket.
The fine-wale corduroy gives it a softer, more relaxed appearance than a denim trucker jacket, while still retaining the familiar structure of classic American workwear.
The fabric itself has enough character that simple inner layers such as a T-shirt, shirt, or sweatshirt are all you need.
It works well as a light outer layer in early autumn and can also be worn under a coat or heavier jacket as temperatures drop.
712 CORDUROY
The trousers are the “712 CORDUROY,” based on the RESOLUTE “712” with a slightly deeper rise.
The overall silhouette is finished as a natural straight fit, closer in character to the classic 505 shape.
The fabric is a fine-wale corduroy made from 85% cotton and 15% polyester.
It has a moderate amount of structure while remaining soft and comfortable from the beginning, gradually becoming even easier to wear over time.
Simply replacing your usual chinos or baker pants with corduroy gives a familiar American casual outfit a slightly calmer and more refined appearance.
A Different Look When Worn as a Set
What we especially recommend this season is wearing the jacket and trousers together as a matching setup.
Corduroy jackets and trousers are common vintage finds on their own, but wearing both together is surprisingly less common.
That is part of what makes this combination feel fresh right now.
Because the corduroy has a fine wale, the texture is not overly strong, allowing the full setup to remain clean and easy to wear.
Compared with a denim setup, the result feels slightly more refined and relaxed while still staying firmly rooted in American casual style.
Fine-Wale Corduroy with a Vintage Feel
The fabric used throughout the series is a fine-wale corduroy with a slightly nostalgic character.
Unlike wide-wale corduroy, it does not feel overly heavy or dominant from a distance, yet up close the ridges create subtle depth, shadow, and texture.
This balance between a classic material and a more current silhouette is one of the qualities that makes FAR EAST MANUFACTURING especially interesting.
Light Gray and Brown
The series is available in two colors: Light Gray and Brown.
Light Gray keeps the classic feel of corduroy while giving the overall look a lighter and cleaner impression.
Brown feels particularly natural for autumn and winter and pairs easily with denim, ecru, navy, and other classic colors.
Both colors work well as matching setups, but each piece is equally easy to incorporate into your wardrobe on its own.
Also Recommended as Individual Pieces
Although the setup styling is one of the main highlights of this series, both pieces are also highly versatile when worn separately.
Pair the TRUCKER JACKET CORDUROY with denim.
Wear the 712 CORDUROY with a denim jacket or sweatshirt.
Either approach fits naturally into everyday styling.
Corduroy is also a great alternative when you want something different from your usual denim or chinos without changing the overall direction of your wardrobe.
A familiar, nostalgic fabric interpreted through a modern balance.
This season, we recommend enjoying FAR EAST MANUFACTURING’s corduroy both as a full setup and as individual pieces.
