Introducing the “1947 BIRNER RILEY 4 PORT SPECIAL” sweat shirt from FREEWHEELERS.

This model is inspired by American athletic sweat shirts from the 1930s to 1940s.

It is made from FREEWHEELERS’ original special heavyweight fleece, developed through years of experimentation and refinement.

The front graphic is inspired by American motor culture in 1947.

It depicts a scene in which a legendary American car club modified an aircraft fuel tank—commonly known as a belly tank—and fitted it with a Riley 4 Port Special engine in an attempt to set a speed record.

The illustrated machine is shown with the engine cover removed, exposing the engine and body construction in a way that strongly reflects the hot rod culture of the period.

The front print uses an electrostatic flocking technique originally developed in the 1930s.

Adhesive is applied according to the design, and short fibers are fixed in place using static electricity, creating a distinctive raised texture and thickness that differs from ordinary flock printing.

With repeated wear and washing, the flocked surface gradually wears away, developing the character of a vintage sweat shirt.

The back uses a discharge-style print.

Repeated washing naturally creates fading and wear, allowing the front and back prints to develop in different ways over time.

The construction is based on 1930s sweat shirts, featuring a double-V design and set-in sleeves.

The cuffs incorporate a distinctive deeply cut V-shaped rib design inspired by vintage wool sweat shirts from the 1920s and 1930s.

The body is made from FREEWHEELERS’ original special heavyweight fleece.

Compared with the brand’s conventional medium-weight sweat fabric, it has approximately 1.4 to 1.5 times the weight, giving it a noticeably substantial feel from the moment it is picked up.

Stretch is also relatively limited, so rather than softly following the body, the fabric maintains its shape with a firm and structured feel.

With repeated wear and washing, the fabric itself gradually develops more character, making the aging process of both the body and prints part of the appeal.

Please note that this product is delivered from the manufacturer in an unwashed state.

Washing will cause shrinkage in areas such as body length and chest width, so please take this into consideration when selecting your size.
