Introducing the “30s DOUBLE V SET-IN SLEEVE SWEAT SHIRT” from FREEWHEELERS.

This model is part of FREEWHEELERS’ “SPECIAL HEAVY WEIGHT” sweatshirt series, developed through extensive testing and repeated adjustments over a long period of time.

The design is inspired by sweatshirts from around the 1930s and features a classic set-in sleeve construction.

Unlike shoulder-seamed styles, the sleeves are attached using a conventional set-in sleeve structure.

The neckline features distinctive V-shaped gussets at both the front and back, creating the classic “DOUBLE V” detail associated with early vintage sweatshirts.

The cuffs also incorporate a unique V-shaped rib construction inspired by details found on wool sweatshirts from the 1920s to 1930s.

To achieve the intended silhouette, the body is constructed with side seams rather than a tubular body.

Rather than simply reproducing vintage details, FREEWHEELERS combines these historical elements with the substantial character of its SPECIAL HEAVY WEIGHT fabric, creating a sweatshirt with exceptional presence.

Its visual impact is immediately apparent when worn on its own, while repeated wear gradually allows the fabric to conform to the body and develop the depth and character associated with well-aged vintage sweatshirts.

The fabric itself is significantly different from the brand’s standard medium-weight sweatshirt material and was developed specifically for the SPECIAL HEAVY WEIGHT series.

One of its defining characteristics is the use of high-quality cotton and thick, highly twisted yarns with pronounced natural irregularity—materials not normally used for conventional sweatshirt fabrics.

To achieve the desired thickness, firmness, and structure, the knitting machine was repeatedly fine-tuned throughout the development process.

The reverse side undergoes an unusually deep brushing process, creating a long, dense fleece interior that provides excellent insulation.

The outer surface has a dry, firm feel with clearly defined knit texture and a rugged appearance, while the inside remains deeply brushed and warm.

Compared with FREEWHEELERS’ standard medium-weight sweatshirt fabric, this material has approximately 1.4 to 1.5 times the weight, giving it a noticeably substantial and heavy feel from the moment it is handled.

Stretch is also relatively limited, resulting in a firm, structured fit rather than a soft sweatshirt that closely follows the body.

With repeated wear and washing, the fabric gradually softens and develops an increasingly rich texture and character.
