The NEAL SHIRT is one of FREEWHEELERS’ standard work shirts, inspired by American work shirts from the 1930s.

Classic details include a chin strap at the collar, iron buttons, a union ticket, and reinforcing gussets at the hem, faithfully reflecting the construction of vintage work shirts from the period.

While retaining these traditional details, the overall proportions, pocket placement, and fit have been carefully balanced to make the shirt easy to wear in a modern wardrobe.

This version is made from FREEWHEELERS’ original vintage-style Black Pepper Chambray.

The fabric uses two-ply yarns created by twisting irregular charcoal-toned yarn together with ecru yarn, then weaving them on old-style looms.

The result is a richly textured chambray with subtle depth and a distinctive heathered appearance unique to Black Pepper Chambray.

Rather than appearing as a flat solid black, the mixture of charcoal and ecru yarns creates fine variations across the surface of the fabric.

With repeated wear and washing, the fabric will soften and continue to develop additional character, making its natural aging process one of the key attractions of this shirt.
