Introducing the STILLWATER WAPITI leather jacket from HIGHLARGE LEATHERS.

This model is based on a vintage L-brand jacket, commonly known as the 2nd Type.

While retaining the characteristic details of the vintage 2nd Type, the pattern also incorporates elements from rider jackets, resulting in a cleaner and more refined silhouette.

One of the most striking features of this jacket is the leather itself.

The material used is Wapiti leather, made from American elk.

Wapiti is one of the largest living deer species, second only to moose in overall size.

The raw hides used for this jacket are more than approximately 5mm thick. They are fully vegetable tanned and then shaved down to approximately 2.5mm while retaining a fully dyed-through finish.

The surface has the rugged grain and powerful character unique to Wapiti leather, giving it a substantial presence that feels distinctly different from standard deerskin.

Despite its thickness and imposing appearance, the leather is surprisingly comfortable once worn.

It conforms naturally to the body and follows the movement of the shoulders and arms with little resistance, resulting in a remarkably smooth wearing feel for such a heavy leather jacket.

With continued wear, the leather fibers gradually loosen and the jacket begins to drape more naturally along the body.

Over time, the surface develops a subtle sheen while countless deep creases form across the distinctive grain.

The transition from the powerful appearance of the jacket when new to a softer, more personal shape through wear is one of the greatest attractions of this model.

The design follows the classic 2nd Type layout with two chest pockets positioned symmetrically on the front.

While maintaining the familiar character of a vintage denim jacket, the use of thick Wapiti leather gives the jacket an entirely different sense of depth, structure, and presence.

The buttons are original two-prong steel buttons produced from molds based on vintage examples and finished with original stamped detailing.

Just like the leather, the metal hardware will gradually develop its own character through wear, allowing the entire jacket to age as a complete piece.

The lining is an original wool blanket fabric developed by analyzing vintage denim jackets.

The restrained striped blanket lining provides warmth while adding an authentic vintage-inspired atmosphere to the inside of the jacket.

Please note that size 44 features additional side-panel seams, following the construction found on vintage examples.

HOW TO MEASURE

① Body Length
Measured in a straight line from the center of the back collar seam to the hem.

② Chest Width
Measured straight across the garment near the underarm area while laid flat.

③ Shoulder Width
Measured straight from shoulder seam to shoulder seam.

④ Sleeve Length
Measured from the shoulder seam to the end of the cuff in a straight line.

The measurements above are actual measurements of the finished product.

Although this jacket is made from exceptionally thick Wapiti leather at approximately 2.5mm, the leather itself has excellent flexibility and gradually conforms more closely to the wearer’s body with continued use.

For the best size comparison, we recommend measuring a leather jacket or outerwear piece you already own using the same method and comparing those measurements with the chart above.
